April 2011 A to Z Blogging Challenge

What is the A to Z Challenge? It’s blogging a letter of the alphabet every day the month of April (with Sundays off for good behavior.) It began April 1st, with the letter A and ends April 30th, with the letter Z. You can click here to see who else is participating in this challenge.

Today's post is for the letter:

Meet Killer. He is our Maine Coon that we rescued from the shelter around six years ago. One of our cats had disappeared into the woods, and after waiting for his return for two years, we decided it was time to add another furry beast to our family.

Killer spent the first few days in hiding. Despite his name, he couldn't hurt a fly--even if he could catch one. This photo is about 2 years old, so he's even bigger now than he was then. His last weigh in put him at 18 pounds. Because of his long fur, we need to shave him every summer. I get a big kick out of it, since he looks a bit silly.

We love him, and he is by far the most personable cat we own. The kids can pick him up--with a great deal of effort--and carry him places. He follows us around the house much like a dog would, and he's not opposed to having his belly rubbed.

What kinds of pets do you have?
