Task it Tuesday - Dec 29

Originally created by The Geeky Blogger, Task it Tuesday is a weekly meme to help you--and me--get things done. The challenge is to post a task or list of tasks you want to complete before next Tuesday. These tasks can help you with your blogging life, reading life, personal or professional life.

This is my last Task it Tuesday. I hope you have enjoyed following along as I did my best to balance my professional and personal lives. Sometimes I succeeded. Other times I failed. Either way, I am happy for the journey.

Here is what last week looked like:

  • Wrap remaining gifts--Done
  • Play a board game with the kids--Not yet
  • Read, write, or both--I read some

For my last to-do list of 2020, I am making a few changes that may take multiple weeks.
  • Daily Bible reading at 7 am
  • Walking five days
  • Reconsider author website and add an editing page
  • Update my Sphere of Influence mailing list
  • Design a new real estate logo
  • Research new publisher for my GAP books

Thanks for your loyal readership. I hope you will check out my other blogs.

How quickly the year is passing. It has been quite a year. I hope you have been able to count some blessings along the way. My hope is after tomorrow, I will be taking a few days off to spend time with my kids. Despite all of us being home, we don't always have a chance to do things like play games or sit down to supper together.

Here is what my to-do list looks like:
  • Daily Bible reading
  • Walking five days
  • Market new edition of A Christmas Kindness
  • Send out family and friends holiday cards

Task it Tuesday - Aug 11

Originally created by The Geeky Blogger, Task it Tuesday is a weekly meme to help you--and me--get things done. The challenge is to post a task or list of tasks you want to complete before next Tuesday. These tasks can help you with your blogging life, reading life, personal or professional life.

It is not only Tuesday. It is also the Lil' Diva's 19th birthday. How did this...

turn into this...

so quickly? I swear, we just brought her home.

That photo is from the Outer Banks of North Carolina, which is where I wish I was right about now. Instead, I'll focus on my to-do list.

I made some progress on last week's list:
  • Daily Bible reading--DONE
  • Update planner--a week behind
  • Two meetings--DONE
  • Walk three days--DONE
  • Complete Strong from the Heart by Jon Land for August review--DONE
  • Continue cleaning bonus room--Nope
  • Finish next chapter of The Sisterhood--about halfway there
  • Send out seller's packets--partially done
This week my work schedule is fuller than it has been. The pandemic is giving me a chance to catch up on some outdoor work, since I'm not comfortable going out as much as I was before. I'm still working, but want to be respectful of everyone's concerns too.

Our weekly Bible study is helping me feel more connected than I have been. I am also prospecting more for business, than I was in the last few weeks. I just don't feel like going to the office since I'm really tired of the whole mask thing. It's necessary, I know, but if I can work mostly from home and not wear a mask, why would I go to the office?

Here is what this week's list looks like:

  • Daily Bible reading
  • Update planner (probably not)
  • Six meetings
  • Walk three days
  • Prospect three days
  • Read Five Minutes, Mr. Byner due for review this month
  • Continue cleaning bonus room (not likely)
  • Finish next chapter of The Sisterhood

Here's a little inspiration to help you and me with our to-do lists.

Task it Tuesday - Aug 4

Originally created by The Geeky Blogger, Task it Tuesday is a weekly meme to help you--and me--get things done. The challenge is to post a task or list of tasks you want to complete before next Tuesday. These tasks can help you with your blogging life, reading life, personal or professional life.

Somehow it is Tuesday again. The days just seem to blend one into the other lately. I've been unmotivated and a bit grumpy. When I get like this, I hide in my office and waste too much time browsing the Internet. I've even struggled with completing the next chapter of The Sisterhood.

This was last week's list:

  • Daily Bible reading--5 out of 7 days
  • Update planner--didn't touch it
  • Weed garden--DONE
  • One meeting--DONE
  • Visit with my sister from out of state--we had a great time
  • Walk three days--I made my goal of 5,000 steps on Tuesday, but fell shy the rest of the week
  • Complete Strong from the Heart by Jon Land for August review--not yet, but reading it
  • Continue cleaning bonus room--worked on prospecting instead
  • Write next chapter of The Sisterhood--didn't get past the fourth paragraph

Here is what this week looks like:

  • Daily Bible reading--so far so good
  • Update planner--probably
  • Two meetings
  • Walk three days
  • Complete Strong from the Heart by Jon Land for August review
  • Continue cleaning bonus room
  • Finish next chapter of The Sisterhood
  • Send out seller's packets
Today, I didn't do as much as I should have, but I am looking to be more productive tomorrow. I need to get back on track.

What does your to-do list look like? Do you need some motivation? Do you like inspirational quotes?

Originally created by The Geeky Blogger, Task it Tuesday is a weekly meme to help you--and me--get things done. The challenge is to post a task or list of tasks you want to complete before next Tuesday. These tasks can help you with your blogging life, reading life, personal or professional life.

Welcome back to Tuesday. I have to admit to feeling unproductive this week. I have tasks, but don't feel like tackling them. When I feel this way, I take a walk to clear my head or force myself to plod through. I took a short walk this morning and also watered the garden. This afternoon, I hope to go back into the garden for a bit to keep the weeds from growing too quickly.

Let's look at last week's list to see what I accomplished.
  • Meal planning - DONE
  • Daily Bible reading - DONE
  • Update planner  - DONE
  • Walk three days this week - DONE
  • Book review due Wednesday - DONE
  • Empty pantry Tuesday night or Wednesday morning - DONE
  • Added - Clean upstairs bathroom - DONE
  • Added - Clean bonus room - Started
So, last week was probably the most productive week I've had in a while. I'm thrilled.

Here is what is on my list this week.
  • Daily Bible reading - on track

  • Update planner
  • Three doctor's appointments
  • WriteAngles meeting

Looks like my week is full. What does your week look like? Anything specific you need to accomplish?

  4. Editing more of The Sisterhood

An Imperfect Christian Mom's COVID-19 Diary #8

A whirlwind of emotions this week. We heard the investigation into the COVID-19 outbreak at the Soldiers' Home in Holyoke is wrapping up soon. Will the families get answers? Probably not ones we can trust. The attorney for the superintendent that was placed on paid leave because of this fiasco held a press conference this week. He pointed the finger at the state. Well, the state officials have been pointing their fingers in his direction, claiming they weren't informed of the situation.

Sometimes it feels like it's all a game to everyone except the families who have suffered as a result. Lawyers and politicians have no idea what we've gone through. Nothing will bring my father-in-law back. No investigation will change what happened. But, change is necessary to protect the remaining and future residents of the Soldiers' Home. So, the families continue to keep the story out there in the media. We continue to share memories of our loved ones. We continue to try to find a way to contribute and make a difference.

This week, I spoke to a woman whose father befriended my father-in-law. They had a group of eight guys hanging out, sharing stories, and enjoying one another's company. Five are gone now. What must it be like for those who remain? What must it be like for the staff that remains? I shuddered to think of it.

I'm eager to hear they are open to visitors again. There are people I want to see and veterans who I would like to spend time with. We all must heal together.

The good thing is that going back to work has helped a bit. I'm also writing some. If my mind stays busy, the darkness can't take over. I opened my Bible app today to Psalm 55:22: Cast your burden on the Lord, And He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved. Oh, I needed to hear that today. If I were a better Christian, the darkness would be drowned out by the light. If I spent more time in prayer, my frustration would subside. I am reading the Word, but definitely not enough. In some ways, I feel unworthy, since I should immediately flock to the comfort of the Word in times of trouble. Why haven't I spent the long nights when I struggle to sleep reading my Bible?

Brighter days are coming. They might not come easy, but they will come. I feel it will be easier once I find a new church. That needs to be a focus once life returns to some form of normal. I miss singing. I miss fellowship. I miss that time dedicated solely to something to refresh my soul.

Task it Tuesday - May 26

Originally created by The Geeky Blogger, Task it Tuesday is a weekly meme to help you--and me--get things done. The challenge is to post a task or list of tasks you want to complete before next Tuesday. These tasks can help you with your blogging life, reading life, personal or professional life.

After a busy weekend, I'm looking forward to Thursday when I can concentrate on some editing of The Sisterhood. I finished taking photos of the crafts we needed to complete for additional material in A Christmas Kindness. I'm not sure if the publisher's plan is still to release it this fall. COVID-19 has changed so many things that I didn't want to ask. I'll find out once I send the photos.

Here is my list for the week
  1. Bible reading
  2. Meetings Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday
  3. Cooking
  4. Editing The Sisterhood
  5. Clean bonus room (This really isn't happening this week, but I want to keep it on the list.)
  6. Prospecting

Did you have a  nice weekend? What's on your list to accomplish this week?

Originally created by The Geeky Blogger, Task it Tuesday is a weekly meme to help you--and me--get things done. The challenge is to post a task or list of tasks you want to complete before next Tuesday. These tasks can help you with your blogging life, reading life, personal or professional life.

Lately I am goofing off more than accomplishing anything. Today is my day to get a few things done. I need to get the crafts photographed for one of my books so the publisher can proceed with it. I have a busy two days of meetings on Wednesday and Thursday. Friday will be an easier day.

Here is this week's list:
  1. Bible reading
  2. Meetings
  3. Continue closing out my father-in-law's affairs (almost done)
  4. Cooking
  5. Re-organize The Sisterhood ( one of my works in progress) to figure out what to do with it
  6. Clean bonus room
  7. Crafts

Did you create a to-do list this week? What does it look like?

We are back to Tuesday. Last week was a productive one; I even organized my home office. My planner is updated, I am caught up on reviews needed right now and am working on the past due reviews, most of the craft supplies are in, and Friday's closing went off without a hitch.

Here is this week's list:
  1. Bible reading
  2. Meetings
  3. Book reviews (done)
  4. Continue closing out my father-in-law's affairs (almost done)
  5. Cooking

Task it Tuesday - Apr 28

Originally created by The Geeky Blogger, Task it Tuesday is a weekly meme to help you--and me--get things done. The challenge is to post a task or list of tasks you want to complete before next Tuesday. These tasks can help you with your blogging life, reading life, personal or professional life.

Yesterday was a productive day. Despite two online meetings and an unexpected trip to pick up a kit to help me get these half-falling-off genre nails fully removed, I posted to three blogs and cleaned up my lead generation software program a bit.

I'm really liking online grocery shopping. Yes, it costs me $3.99 per delivery and a tip for the driver, but no more dealing with crowds is great. Amazon pantry is a bit slower getting things to me, but if I plan right it doesn't matter when I order those supplemental items. I scored some toilet paper yesterday, but still no flour. We are being careful with how much we use.

Here is what is on tap for the rest of the week:

  1. Update my planner
  2. Bible reading
  3. Meetings (ugh)
  4. Book review
  5. Stamp postcards for newest mailing
  6. Start digging into closing out my father-in-law's affairs (this might take a while)
  7. Cooking (good thing I love it)
  8. Maybe, a bit of writing
What does your to-do list look like this week? Anything I can do to help support you?

An Imperfect Christian Mom's COVID-19 Diary

Since last Monday, the lives of Massachusetts residents and others across the nation have drastically changed. We heard about COVID-19 across the ocean, but until it hit home it was just something going on in other areas of the world.

Now, states, cities, and towns across the nation shut down regular businesses we took for granted would be open whenever we wanted them. We aren't free to eat, celebrate, or worship in the ways we always have. We are distanced from family, friends, and colleagues. The regular schedules that regulate our daily activities are interrupted by closed schools, cancelled sports, and working from home.

For me, this pandemic has meant a shift in work practices. As an asthma sufferer, I've been careful about any unnecessary exposure. Yes, I am still showing homes, but I don't go out as often. Meetings are all by Zoom or GoToMeeting. For some agents it is business as usual--unless Governor Baker says differently. I simply can't do that, because bronchitis is tough enough on me; never mind this COVID-19 stuff. Staying positive has been challenging, but spending time in the Word and in prayer helps. So does trying to be a source of inspiration for others.

In the early days of the pandemic, I began sharing news on Facebook to help spread information. The last two days I have switched gears. People are tired of news. They are tired of updates. They want to be inspired. They want to be uplifted. They want to know they aren't alone. So, no more links to videos with the latest from the Baker administration or news updates. People can find that stuff if they want it.

Two recent blog posts:

Inspiration During a Crisis (for writers, but others might find it helpful for productivity)

Ten Books to Inspire and Uplift You

I am working to make this blog a more uplifting place to visit. Maybe weekly inspirational quotes. Please know I am keeping all of you up in prayer.

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Women in Publishing Summit

This week I dedicated time to the Women in Publishing Summit. This is the second year I've participated. It is a totally online conference for women with a ton of fabulous information for authors from writing tips, to marketing tips, to self-publishing and more.

Some of my favorite topics so far:

  • JoEllen Taylor: Building Your Career Foundation as An Author So You Have Financial Freedom When Life Happens
  • Desiree Peterkin Bell: Finding your voice, writing your narrative
  • Eileen Cook: Using Psychology to Build Better Characters
  • Shayla Raquel: Bump Up Your Book Sales with Email Marketing

I haven't made it all the way through the conference yet, but I bought the All Access Pass, so I can  go back as time allows.

I will definitely sign up for next year's conference. Even though I've been part of the publishing industry since 2005, I learn so much from the Women in Publishing Summit. You can check them out at https://womeninpublishingsummit.com

So, here we are at the end of January. How has your month been? Mine has been busy from a writing/editing perspective, but real estate has slowed down a bit. I have, however, been prospecting like crazy, so I have a listing appointment this week and a new listing coming up soon.

I am happy about the progress I made last week. Here is the new list.

  • Daily Bible reading
  • Log food in Lose it! daily
  • Maintain planner daily
  • Start real estate bootcamp Tuesday
  • Grocery shop Monday and meal plan - DONE
  • Finish extra material for A Christmas Kindness (Good thing: talked to publisher and I have a bit more time on this one. Challenging thing: I need more pages than I thought.)
  • Edit next two chapters of project - working on
  • Copy edits for Dust of Lies - working on
  • Exercise Wednesday and Saturday (Every day I am striving for 5,000 steps also, but am averaging around 3,000)
  • Closing Friday
  • Clean the bonus room
  • Drink more water - more of a goal than a task, but want to stay focused

What does your to-do list look like this week? What is the most important thing for you to accomplish this week?

Monday Morning Ramblings

I didn't have anything new to share as far as books in my mailbox, so I figured I would ramble a bit this morning.

Here is how my week went as far as meeting my goals from Task it Tuesday:

  • Daily Bible reading - Done
  • Log food in Lose it! daily - Done
  • Maintain planner daily - Done
  • Meeting Tuesday - Done
  • Start real estate bootcamp Tuesday - Not done
  • Meeting Wednesday - Done
  • Grocery shop Monday and meal plan - Done
  • Finish extra material for A Christmas Kindness - Not done
  • Edit next two chapters of project - Working on
  • Copy edits for Dust of Lies - Working on
  • Exercise Saturday and Sunday - Not done
  • Bylaws meeting Friday - Done
  • Take health assessment for insurance - Done
  • Clean the bonus room - Probably next week
  • Organize spice and herb shelf in pantry - Done
I made decent progress this week, but I am bummed at still having a bonus room filled with clutter. My hope is to turn that into the exercise area, but I can't use that as an excuse not to exercise. I'm happy I am keeping up with tracking my calories, reading my Bible, and maintaining my meal plan and mindfulness journal. The real test will be if I can do those things once we hit the spring market.

Working on editing today. Then I need to finalize the extra material for A Christmas Kindness.

I'm still looking for a new church. Honestly, I haven't gone out of my way to attend services every week. My heart is broken realizing this will no longer be family time. The girls have no interest and the hubby barely any interest. They want the old church back, which doesn't exist anymore. Still, I need to move forward and find what I need.

That's it for today's ramblings. I hope you all have a blessed week.
