Task it Tuesday - Dec 29

Originally created by The Geeky Blogger, Task it Tuesday is a weekly meme to help you--and me--get things done. The challenge is to post a task or list of tasks you want to complete before next Tuesday. These tasks can help you with your blogging life, reading life, personal or professional life.

This is my last Task it Tuesday. I hope you have enjoyed following along as I did my best to balance my professional and personal lives. Sometimes I succeeded. Other times I failed. Either way, I am happy for the journey.

Here is what last week looked like:
  • Daily Bible reading--Five days
  • Walking five days--Three days
  • Market new edition of A Christmas Kindness--Ongoing
  • Send out family and friends holiday cards--Nope
  • Blog at Christian Children's Authors and 4RV Reading, Writing, & Art News--Done
  • Look into a new publisher for my GAP books--moving to January 2021
  • Look into getting a small dumpster--moving to January 2021
  • Put up the last tree and put out my Santa and angel collections--Done
  • Bake something special--Cinnamon rolls
  • Wrap remaining gifts--Done
  • Play a board game with the kids--Not yet
  • Read, write, or both--I read some

For my last to-do list of 2020, I am making a few changes that may take multiple weeks.
  • Daily Bible reading at 7 am
  • Walking five days
  • Reconsider author website and add an editing page
  • Update my Sphere of Influence mailing list
  • Design a new real estate logo
  • Research new publisher for my GAP books
  • Study for my MA Real Estate Broker's test
  • Complete my NC Real Estate Post-licensing education
  • Update my real estate leads spreadsheet
  • Schedule one week off and order a dumpster to complete cleaning the house
I am sure I will think of more as I set my goals for 2021 (not that they aren't brewing in my head already), but this is a good start.

Thanks for your loyal readership. I hope you will check out my other blogs.

Well, it has been a fun December so far. We have had some unseasonably warm days and some snow. We are expecting a huge storm this week, so I might get a day off. Here is what is on tap for this week:
  • Daily Bible reading
  • Walking five days
  • Meeting Wednesday
  • Board meeting Thursday evening
  • Market new edition of A Christmas Kindness
  • Send out family and friends holiday cards
  • Look into a new publisher for my GAP books--moving to January 2021
  • Look into getting a small dumpster--moving to January 2021
  • Take Sunday off
  • Decorate the rest of the house
  • Bake something special
  • Finish editing latest project
  • Wrap a few gifts
That's it for me. What does your list look like this week? Hope it is productive.

2020 Goals Review

I am a bit early for this review, but now that I am looking forward to 2021 in earnest, this seems like the best time to reflect on the goals I set in January.

Personal Goals

  • Exercise twice a week

I have to say that considering all that has happened this year, I didn’t do too badly with this goal. No, I am not doing aerobics or Pilates, but I am walking every day, which is more than I was doing last year. If I can get the bonus room cleaned up, I can create an exercise room. We are talking about buying an elliptical machine. We have a treadmill and my barre for workouts. The punching bag will need to be replaced, since once of the kids' friends damaged it.

  •  Read the Bible daily

This is a goal that really needed more of my attention. I read a verse almost every day and attend Bible study on Sunday nights, but that’s really not enough. I am thinking the only way to accomplish this goal is to get up early every morning and dive right in.

  • Dedicate one day a week to meal planning

I started off strong with this goal, but the dedication waned as we all found ourselves at home more. At this point, I don’t have a full meal plan in place, but I do know what protein I’ll be using, so that helps.

  • Make smarter food choices

This was the largest challenge for me this year. I am such an emotional eater and a junk food junkie, so that doesn’t help. Trapped inside with the family for months probably didn’t make it easier. I’m fairly certain once the girls move out my eating habits will improve—don’t buy it, I can’t eat it—but what do I do in the meantime?

  • Re-assess my commitments

I did fairly well this year. I resigned from one organization, though I still support them monetarily. The slower pace because of the pandemic and logging into my meetings instead of driving to them certainly helped as well. Since I will be president-elect of the local real estate board next year, assuming the presidency in 2022, I know I will need to stay on top of this goal going forward.

Professional Goals

  • Put together a solid business plan

This was the first year since 2014 that I didn’t put together a business plan. I had a huge decision to make early in the year. That decision shouldn’t have interfered with creating a business plan, but it did. Well, I allowed it to.

By the time I knew where my head was at, COVID arrived. Two weeks later, the events that unfolded at the Soldiers’ Home in Holyoke and would lead to my father-in-law’s death, became my focus. It has literally taken me until this month to fully get invested in real estate again. Though there remains no closure in regards to those tragic events, I can stop my mind from agonizing over them all the time. Now, if the ringing in my ears would stop, I could really focus.

  •  Commit to weekly prospecting

Considering the year this has been, I feel I did really well with this. Though there were a few weeks I didn’t prospect at all, I prospected more this year than usual. I have also been better about staying in touch with former clients and reaching out to new leads. Living in a pandemic world makes you stop and think more about how you can help people. That’s why my volunteering ramped up this year, too.

  • Read two business or leadership books this year

I met this goal by reading one book on self-publishing and one on creating systems. The latter is where I feel I always fail. Either I don’t create the systems or I create them and abandon them when I get busy. I bought daily planner sheets to help with that in 2021. Those will be easier than the journal I tried to keep.

  • Take my Broker's Test

This moved to 2021 because the testing centers have been closed. They have reopened, but they have been backed up.

  • Make an important decision by January 10

I made the decision and am confident I made the right choice.

What were some of your goals this year? What have you been most satisfied with accomplishing? What is one of your 2021 goals?

I can't believe half of November is already done. Part of me is happy that 2020 is almost over. The other part of me says time is moving too fast.

  • Blog Wednesday
  • Reading Around the World in More Than 80 Days

We have come to the last Task it Tuesday of October. Last week flew by in a blur. This week will be close to the same. • Meetings Wednesday
  • Media interview Thursday

Mailbox Monday - Oct 26

Mailbox Monday is a meme started by Marcia of To Be Continued. Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week. It now has a permanent home at the Mailbox Monday blog.

There really should be a law against feeling this exhausted. Between a hectic work schedule and the tinnitus making it challenging to sleep, my behind is dragging. The holidays can't come soon enough. Things should slow down then... believe it or not.

This week I participated in an online cooking class for the first time. A local chef helped us make falafel and rice with a tomato and cucumber salad. I plated mine before he showed us how to plate it. I'm not much on presentation. The third plate I did his way: rice on the bottom, falafel on top of the rice and the salad on the side with some tahini sauce.

The Lil' Diva bought the animals Halloween costumes. The animals were not impressed.

Theo the Lion

Dwight the Pumpkin

Travis the Bat

The one really nice thing about the pandemic is that I've been walking in the woods behind the house. Tonight, the man about the place and I took a leisurely stroll with Theo. Not the best photo, but the fall colors in the woods are beautiful.

On the mailbox front, I received two books for review.

I also picked up these freebies for my Kindle.

I used credits to buy this seasonal story.

It looks like that's it from my end. Hope you have a great week.

Task it Tuesday - Oct 20

Originally created by The Geeky Blogger, Task it Tuesday is a weekly meme to help you--and me--get things done. The challenge is to post a task or list of tasks you want to complete before next Tuesday. These tasks can help you with your blogging life, reading life, personal or professional life.

Well, well, well, here we are at Tuesday. It's a busy one, so I am putting this together as quickly as I can so I can focus on the rest of my day.

Here is what I accomplished last week:

  • Daily Bible reading--DONE
  • Walking three days--DONE
  • Six meetings and one class--DONE
  • Appointments with new clients--DONE
  • Continue fall cleaning--Whoops, was I supposed to do that?
  • Look into getting a small dumpster--Didn't even think about it
  • Continue reading Systemology
  • Continue reading The Christmas Spirits on Tradd Street
  • Review writing goals from 2020--DONE
  • Start looking into a new publisher for three of my books--No time for this one

Real estate has been getting busier lately. I'm not sure why. People worried about the election? People worried about rising COVID cases? People deciding to give it a go despite those two things? As such, this week quickly turned into one where there was little white space left on the calendar.

  • Daily Bible reading
  • Walking three days
  • Parent/Teacher conference Monday
  • Inspections Tuesdays
  • Meetings Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday which I need to prep for
  • One class on Thursday--growing in your career is important
  • Finish editing two chapters for a client--one is done and I'm working on the second
  • Meet with local charity Friday to discuss holiday fundraising events
  • Come up with marketing plan for the new edition of A Christmas Kindness
  • Look into getting a small dumpster--won't happen, but need to keep it on the list
  • Continue reading Systemology
  • Continue reading The Christmas Spirits on Tradd Street
  • Start looking into a new publisher for three of my books--won't happen, but need to keep it on the list

That's what my week looks like. How about yours?

Task it Tuesday - Oct 13

Originally created by The Geeky Blogger, Task it Tuesday is a weekly meme to help you--and me--get things done. The challenge is to post a task or list of tasks you want to complete before next Tuesday. These tasks can help you with your blogging life, reading life, personal or professional life.

What an exhausting start to the week. My work from home day turned into showings, visiting clients, and running around until late. I used to do this before the pandemic. Why does it seem so much harder now?

Luckily, I started off the week with a Bible study and prayer time, so if I focus on that instead of feeling overwhelmed the week will turn out right.

Here is this week's to-do list:

  • Daily Bible reading
  • Walking three days
  • Six meetings and one class
  • Appointments with new clients
  • Continue fall cleaning
  • Look into getting a small dumpster
  • Continue reading The Christmas Spirits on Tradd Street
  • Review writing goals from 2020--DONE
  • Start looking into a new publisher for three of my books :(

I think that's it. What's on your list this week? Is there anything I can help do to motivate you toward meeting your goals?

  • Four meetings

Task it Tuesday - Sep 29

Originally created by The Geeky Blogger, Task it Tuesday is a weekly meme to help you--and me--get things done. The challenge is to post a task or list of tasks you want to complete before next Tuesday. These tasks can help you with your blogging life, reading life, personal or professional life.

How is it possible that the end of September is here? We are expecting some much needed rain, which will make the garden happy. Today, my chauffeur duties have been reduced. The Lil' Princess passed her license test this weekend. It seems strange not to create a work schedule around drop off and pick up. That didn't stop me from having to make lunch for her, though, so I'm not feeling too bad about this whole situation yet.

Here's what I need to accomplish this week:
  • Daily Bible reading
  • Walking three days
  • Prospecting
  • Stage new listing
  • Continue fall cleaning
  • Look into getting a small dumpster
  • Office luncheon Thursday
  • Virtual Mass Save Audit
  • Finish My Father's Voice
  • Start reading Systemology

I hope you're having a nice week. What do you wish to accomplish?

Task it Tuesday - Sep 22

Originally created by The Geeky Blogger, Task it Tuesday is a weekly meme to help you--and me--get things done. The challenge is to post a task or list of tasks you want to complete before next Tuesday. These tasks can help you with your blogging life, reading life, personal or professional life.

Wow! What a week it has been. I accomplished more than planned, made that decision that had I been praying about (which didn't end up going as expected), and finally pulled the plug on some old blogs.

Here is what I needed to accomplish last week:

  • Daily Bible reading--DONE
  • Finish social media calendar for book promotion--DONE
  • Walking three days--DONE
  • Two client meetings--DONE
  • Stage new listing--Finishing tomorrow
  • Continue fall cleaning--First floor done, maybe starting the second floor Sunday
  • Change decorations--DONE
  • Keep reading Morning Star--DONE
  • Finish Chapter 5 in editing project--Halfway there
  • Clean the shed roof
  • Look into getting a small dumpster
  • Set up Mass Save audit--DONE

The nice thing about fall cleaning, or spring cleaning for that matter, is that you go through things and consider what's worth keeping and what should be donated or discarded. My motivation to accomplish so much stemmed from the decision, which didn't work out. While I am disappointed, I've discovered God knows much more than me about what is best. So, while this door is closed, a window will open somewhere.

This week's list looks like this:

  • Daily Bible reading
  • Walking three days
  • Two client meetings
  • Stage new listing
  • Continue fall cleaning
  • Complete three marketing proposals
  • Finish Chapter 5 in editing project
  • Clean the shed roof
  • Look into getting a small dumpster
  • Three meetings
  • Virtual BusinessWest event
  • Bring the Lil' Princess to her driver's test Saturday
  • Start reading two books
Here's hoping you have a blessed week. I leave you with an inspirational quote.

Originally created by The Geeky Blogger, Task it Tuesday is a weekly meme to help you--and me--get things done. The challenge is to post a task or list of tasks you want to complete before next Tuesday. These tasks can help you with your blogging life, reading life, personal or professional life.

How are you today? I hope you're having a good week. I listed a new property yesterday and am staging another one today, so the week started off a bit crazy. I get to meet my sister for breakfast on Thursday, though, so that will be nice.

My list is fairly the same from last week. Some of the tasks moved to this week and others are continued from last week. A couple are new.

  • Daily Bible reading
  • Finish social media calendar for book promotion
  • Walking three days
  • Two client meetings
  • Stage new listing
  • Continue fall cleaning
  • Change decorations
  • Keep reading Morning Star
  • Finish Chapter 5 in editing project
  • Clean the shed roof
  • Look into getting a small dumpster
  • Set up Mass Save audit

That's it for me this week. I hope you can tackle your to-do list.

Task it Tuesday - Sep 8

Originally created by The Geeky Blogger, Task it Tuesday is a weekly meme to help you--and me--get things done. The challenge is to post a task or list of tasks you want to complete before next Tuesday. These tasks can help you with your blogging life, reading life, personal or professional life.

Welcome back to Tuesday. I hope you had a nice long weekend. I spent time in the garden, cut down a couple of trees that fell during the last storm, worked on a editing project, and showed houses.

Before we look at this week's to-do list, let's see how I did last week.

  • Daily Bible reading--not as much as I should
  • Five meetings--DONE
  • Start reading Morning Star--a quarter of the way through
  • Finish reading Out of No Way for a September 9 review--DONE
  • Start fall cleaning on Saturday--not much progress, but started
  • Change outdoor decorations Sunday--not done
  • Look into getting a small dumpster--not done
  • Follow up with architect on house design--husband is doing this
  • Pray daily about a big decision--YES
So, how does that make this week look?

  • Daily Bible reading
  • Walking three days
  • Three client meetings
  • Stage a condo
  • Post review for Out of No Way
  • Continue fall cleaning
  • Change decorations
  • Keep reading Morning Star
  • Finish next chapter in editing project
  • Put donations on the front porch Saturday
  • Clean the shed roof
  • Look into getting a small dumpster

What is one task that is always part of your fall cleaning? For me, it's washing all the curtains.

Task it Tuesday - Aug 11

Originally created by The Geeky Blogger, Task it Tuesday is a weekly meme to help you--and me--get things done. The challenge is to post a task or list of tasks you want to complete before next Tuesday. These tasks can help you with your blogging life, reading life, personal or professional life.

It is not only Tuesday. It is also the Lil' Diva's 19th birthday. How did this...

turn into this...

so quickly? I swear, we just brought her home.

That photo is from the Outer Banks of North Carolina, which is where I wish I was right about now. Instead, I'll focus on my to-do list.

I made some progress on last week's list:
  • Daily Bible reading--DONE
  • Update planner--a week behind
  • Two meetings--DONE
  • Walk three days--DONE
  • Complete Strong from the Heart by Jon Land for August review--DONE
  • Continue cleaning bonus room--Nope
  • Finish next chapter of The Sisterhood--about halfway there
  • Send out seller's packets--partially done
This week my work schedule is fuller than it has been. The pandemic is giving me a chance to catch up on some outdoor work, since I'm not comfortable going out as much as I was before. I'm still working, but want to be respectful of everyone's concerns too.

Our weekly Bible study is helping me feel more connected than I have been. I am also prospecting more for business, than I was in the last few weeks. I just don't feel like going to the office since I'm really tired of the whole mask thing. It's necessary, I know, but if I can work mostly from home and not wear a mask, why would I go to the office?

Here is what this week's list looks like:

  • Daily Bible reading
  • Update planner (probably not)
  • Six meetings
  • Walk three days
  • Prospect three days
  • Read Five Minutes, Mr. Byner due for review this month
  • Continue cleaning bonus room (not likely)
  • Finish next chapter of The Sisterhood

Here's a little inspiration to help you and me with our to-do lists.

Task it Tuesday - Aug 4

Originally created by The Geeky Blogger, Task it Tuesday is a weekly meme to help you--and me--get things done. The challenge is to post a task or list of tasks you want to complete before next Tuesday. These tasks can help you with your blogging life, reading life, personal or professional life.

Somehow it is Tuesday again. The days just seem to blend one into the other lately. I've been unmotivated and a bit grumpy. When I get like this, I hide in my office and waste too much time browsing the Internet. I've even struggled with completing the next chapter of The Sisterhood.

This was last week's list:

  • Daily Bible reading--5 out of 7 days
  • Update planner--didn't touch it
  • Weed garden--DONE
  • One meeting--DONE
  • Visit with my sister from out of state--we had a great time
  • Walk three days--I made my goal of 5,000 steps on Tuesday, but fell shy the rest of the week
  • Complete Strong from the Heart by Jon Land for August review--not yet, but reading it
  • Continue cleaning bonus room--worked on prospecting instead
  • Write next chapter of The Sisterhood--didn't get past the fourth paragraph

Here is what this week looks like:

  • Daily Bible reading--so far so good
  • Update planner--probably
  • Two meetings
  • Walk three days
  • Complete Strong from the Heart by Jon Land for August review
  • Continue cleaning bonus room
  • Finish next chapter of The Sisterhood
  • Send out seller's packets
Today, I didn't do as much as I should have, but I am looking to be more productive tomorrow. I need to get back on track.

What does your to-do list look like? Do you need some motivation? Do you like inspirational quotes?

Task it Tuesday - July 13

Originally created by The Geeky Blogger, Task it Tuesday is a weekly meme to help you--and me--get things done. The challenge is to post a task or list of tasks you want to complete before next Tuesday. These tasks can help you with your blogging life, reading life, personal or professional life.

Well, it has been a few weeks since I posted a Task it Tuesday. I don't keep a task list when I'm on vacation. That kind of defeats the purpose of vacation.

Let's face it---2020 has been kind of a bust. I had a stellar year planned in many ways. Then the pandemic hit; we lost my father-in-law; and, as much as we love each other, spending every day at home together isn't all it's cracked up to be. The vacation helped us a great deal. Now, I am ready to get back on track.

Here is this week's list:

  • Meal planning - DONE
  • Daily Bible reading - Started a new week-long plan
  • Update planner  - on track
  • Walk three days this week
  • Book review due Wednesday
  • Empty pantry Tuesday night or Wednesday morning - new doors and frame being installed
That's it for this week. Not sure if I will accomplish everything, but I need to stay focused.

What's on your to-do list this week?

Task it Tuesday - Mar 4

Originally created by The Geeky Blogger, Task it Tuesday is a weekly meme to help you--and me--get things done. The challenge is to post a task or list of tasks you want to complete before next Tuesday. These tasks can help you with your blogging life, reading life, personal or professional life.

Gosh, I feel like I can't stay on top of things lately. The flu really made life challenging the last couple of weeks. So, it is Wednesday, but still want to get this posted.

  • Daily Bible reading
  • Log food in Lose it! daily
  • Maintain planner daily
  • Continue real estate bootcamp
  • Grocery shop Monday and meal plan - DONE
  • Finish extra material for A Christmas Kindness (probably not, but need to keep it on the list)
  • Edit last chapter of a project
  • Exercise Saturday and Sunday (Every day I am striving for 5,000 steps also, but am averaging around 2,500)
  • Meeting in Greenfield on Thursday
  • Meeting in Springfield Friday
  • Clean the bonus room

What does your to-do list look like this week? Are you staying on track with your 2020 goals?
