Blogging from A to Z April Challenge - D #atozchallenge
Just today and tomorrow left to complete the first week of the Blogging from A to Z April Challenge. It's been fun visiting new blogs and meeting new people.
Dewlap - turkey's wattle. That flap of skin under its throat. You can learn more about wattles, snoods, and beards (who knew turkeys had all those) here.
Double Glazed Windows - According to wiseGeek, "Double glazed windows are made from two panes of glass that are separated by a layer of air or gas and then sealed. They are designed to provide a better barrier against outside temperatures than single paned windows because the two layers of glass and the buffer layer act as insulators." Renewableview.com states double glazed windows will reduce your energy bills by "reducing the amount of heat that is transferred from your windows into your home and lessening the need to use your air conditioner." They also reduce street noise.
Dr. King assassinated - On April 4, 1968, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was fatally shot while standing on the balcony of his second-story room of the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee. Evidence pointed to James Earl Ray, who was arrested on June 8 by Scotland Yard at a London airport and then extradited to the United States. In March 1969, Ray admitted to killing King to avoid the electric chair and was sentence to 99 years in prison, but tried to withdraw his guilty plea three days later. Ray died in 1998. Dr. King's legacy continues to live on and impact lives. For more about King's assassination, visit http://www.history.com/this-day-in-history/dr-king-is-assassinated
