The Preface and Introduction explain not only how the author came to write this book, but also explore Biblical history and the origins of the 'Song of Songs.' Additionally, the author offers information about how he approached problems with translations. Starting with chapter 1, verses 2 - 6, the author shares a verse and then comments on it: identifying people, discussing word usage, explaining what is happening, and showing how the text applies today.
Not being overly familiar with this book of the Bible leaves me at a slight disadvantage. It's not one I've used with my students and not one I've studied on my own. But I like what the author says in this devotional commentary and would definitely like to see more.
