The Year of Leland Thomson by Cary Franklin Smith Giveaway at Linda Weaver Clarke's Blog

It's a new week, which means a new giveaway at the blog of Linda Weaver Clarke.

The Year of Leland Thomson is a story about a sixteen year old boy from the Hills of Arkansas, who plays the cello with a maturity and grace that can only be explained by, “God gave him the gift.” Leland lives with a calling, an inner voice urging him beyond life in the saw mill community of Pine Hollow. Ralph Watkins discovers Leland and persuades his family to allow him to go to New York and present his talent at Carnegie Hall. Though asked not to pray publicly before he played, Leland begins to play but soon stops. He can’t go on without acknowledging the One who had given him the gift. Ralph realizes his mistake and tells him to pray. When he does, Leland reconnects with the music within, honors God and finishes the concert.

Cary Franklin Smith has pastored at several Baptist churches in Texas, California, and Nevada. He has a B.A. from Howard Payne University and an M.R.E. from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Cary is a husband, father of 3, and grandfather of 5 (with another on the way).
