Mailbox Monday - Nov 30

Mailbox Monday is a meme started by Marcia of To Be Continued. Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week. It now has a permanent home at the Mailbox Monday blog.

Welcome to the end of November. The holiday season has officially begun, but I will hang onto my fall mailbox for one more week. Next week look for a new one.

What a pleasant weekend we had. The gathering for Thanksgiving was smaller than usual, but still very nice. We started decorating the tree last night. The Lil' Diva is holding Travis, though he looks like a black blob with a tail.

We took some nice walks this weekend with the mild temperatures. Theo loves the woods.

No new books in my mailbox, but I bought this boxed set of cozy mysteries with a promotional credit I earned.

Then I grabbed this Kindle freebie on Sunday.

What did your mailbox look like? Any books I should add to my wish list? Santa is coming soon. :)

Mailbox Monday - Nov 23

We are almost at the end of November. How do that happen? Is your Christmas tree or Hanukkah bush up yet? My husband dragged our main tree out of the basement this weekend. I'm sure we won't decorate until Thanksgiving night or the next day, but it is upstairs. Then there are four or five other trees to set up. My winter and Christmas Decocrated shipments arrived, but I haven't unloaded them yet because I want to clean first.

So, what did my mailbox look like last week? Joy, oh joy, the second edition of my book, A Christmas Kindness, arrived on Saturday. I am so excited. Only the softcovers arrived. The hardcovers are still pending shipment.

I also downloaded these Kindle freebies... which I really need to stop doing.

That's it from my neck of the woods. Hope you'll share your new books. Wishing my friends in the States have a lovely Thanksgiving.

Mailbox Monday - July 20

How is it Monday again? Oh, right. Every day seems the same now that we are pretty much trapped in our houses together. LOL! Sometimes you just have to make a joke to lighten the mood. We are blessed to be healthy, so that's a good thing.

After a rough week, I drove to visit my mother-in-law so that my brother-in-law and sister-in-law could have a break. She had been with them since March and they haven't gone anywhere considering the pandemic. I'm not sure I would want to camp in the middle of a heat wave, but I am sure the change of pace is good.

As for me, I'm enjoying my new Kindle Fire HD and Kindle Unlimited. I've even watched a movie or two. With the gift card from my birthday, I bought the following two cookbooks that arrived this week.

I scooped up these two Kindle freebies.

I promoted this book when it first came out, but never had a chance to read it for the tour.

These are the books I grabbed through Kindle Unlimited. The first one I grabbed for curiosity's sake. I have a three-month free trial. If I don't read anything off my list, then I will cancel before October.

I have two more books arriving this week. I'm in the middle of reading one that will take me a while, so I will probably need to break off and read the next book I have scheduled for review in August.

That's it from my neck of the woods. What did your mailbox hold? Anything good you would like to share?

Mailbox Monday - July 13

I am posting this early because we are home and I have a closing Monday morning. Our drive home from the Outer Banks was painless. We arrived Saturday morning and I tried not to overdue it right away. Yesterday was my birthday, so all the kids were here. They went all out and bought me a neat gift:

I also received a gift card, so I bought a few books I had my eye on and picked up a few new Kindle freebies. I also signed up for three free months of Kindle Unlimited. Not sure how much I'll use Prime Video, but we will see how that works out.

While we were away, two books arrived in my mailbox.

These Kindle freebies are on my new device.

With my Kindle Unlimited subscription I grabbed the first book in The Time Hunters series, so I can read it before the second book.

How was your week? Are you reading a lot or have you been distracted? What was one of your favorite recent reads?

Mailbox Monday - Apr 27

Oh, my, what a week!  I'm finally crawling out of the dark hole of loss and grief to get back into my regular routine. Well, the new regular routine anyway. I could actually get used to ordering my groceries online and having them delivered.

I enjoyed a nice, long bath yesterday and some reading. This review will appear at The Book Connection on Thursday.

My physical and digital mailboxes held gifts for me this past week.

Ketty Lester's autobiography arrived, and I am so excited. I knew she sang, but I first saw her as Hester-Sue Terhune on Little House on the Prairie.

I bought these for my Kindle.

What was in your mailbox? Has your reading increased since the pandemic, decreased, or stayed about the same? What are you most looking forward to once life resumes to some semblance of normal? For me, it's got to be going out to a family dinner again with everyone.

Take care. Praying you stay safe and healthy.

Welcome to my first mailbox of 2020. I've shared a lot of what the holiday and year brought over the last few days, so I won't rehash it. Let's get right into my new books.

Santa delivered these two. Now, I have the entire set. I need to read the third book before starting in on these. I had already bought the Christmas book for myself.

I also picked up these Kindle freebies.

I haven't read much the past couple of weeks, but I plan to get back on track in the next few days.

If you participated in First Book, have you started reading it yet? Did you receive any great book gifts over the holidays?

Mailbox Monday - Nov 4

Mailbox Monday is a meme started by Marcia of To Be Continued. Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week. It now has a permanent home at the Mailbox Monday blog.

Welcome to the first Monday in November. The air has turned cool and crisp here. We had our first frost this weekend. In some ways, I'm glad. I love the fall scents that carry on the wind as I travel around town and visit houses. In other ways, it seems like I've run out of days in the year to accomplish goals I set in January. Some have been met, some are close to done, and some are too far away for me to imagine the end of the year will bring success. Such is the story of life these days. I'm proud of what I've accomplished so far.

In my reading world, I've tried to be kind and not request too many books for review. There are days I've stumbled, but overall I didn't do too badly. Bookworms can never have enough books anyway.

Here are some digital books I recently acquired:

I love children's books, so these will be fun reads. Look for my reviews at The Children's and Teens' Book Connection.

Hope you have a blessed week.

New Release: Eastbound from Flagstaff by Annette Valentine

A love story based on Annette Valentine’s father, Eastbound From Flagstaff portrays an individual who comes to recognize the significance of family, loyalty, and the richness of his heritage.

Simon Hagan is running from a lie, intent on believing his own efforts and perseverance can overcome anything. He abandons roots that are his foundational strength and hides behind his charm, living every moment as if life’s daring him to fail―again. He’s reckoning with his father’s God who could have delivered better outcomes but didn’t.

This first installment in an epic trilogy that begins in the 1920’s, unique in its purposeful illumination of the human condition and its ideological indifference to God, asks the question: “Why was God silent when I needed him?” Simon’s return to the notion of forgiveness is the catalyst for a new beginning as it reunites Simon to the place he once thought was the impossible dream. The answer for Simon isn’t blowing in the backwinds of his dream chase; rather, it unfolds in the outstretched hand of a villain.

“A wonderful read, a well-fought redemption story.”
– Darrell Waltrip, author, American motorsports analyst, and former racing driver

Mailbox Monday - Feb 18

Mailbox Monday is a meme started by Marcia of To Be Continued. Mailbox Monday is the gathering place for readers to share the books that came in their mailbox during the last week. It now has a permanent home at the Mailbox Monday blog.

I will truly be glad when it is warm enough around here for me to change my photo to a spring mailbox. It's snowing again. Shouldn't be as bad as last week's storm, but I would love to wear something other than boots when I walk the dog. Theo hasn't been happy either. The snow has been crunchy and hard to walk on, so he doesn't stay out long.

Last week was hectic with work and home life. I can't say I'm seeing a lull in my workload like sometimes happens in the first quarter of the year. This will probably be one of my best first quarters since I started in real estate.

As far as my mailbox, it has been full lately.

This one arrived over the weekend. I'll be reviewing it in March.

I picked up these two Kindle freebies this past week.

Then I grabbed this group from the local library for research.

One of my friends gave me these that she accidentally bought when she already owned them. That cab be a problem with book lovers.

That should keep me out of trouble for a while.

What did your mailbox look like? Anything exciting you would like to share?
