Mailbox Monday - Oct 19

October is chugging along. It's hard to believe we are three weeks in. Before we know it, Halloween will be here. I'm not sure our town has made a decision about trick or treating. How is your community handling it?

This weekend was crazy busy. I staged and listed a new property, continued editing a large project, and did some baking and cooking. Check out this great looking chicken stock. I used a different recipe than the last time and it smelled divine.

Travis and Dwight enjoy hanging out in the kitchen when I'm there.

My physical mailbox was empty with the exception of an order of some of my books. The publisher is going out of business and I wanted to make sure I had some copies to sell if I needed them.

I picked up these freebies for my Kindle.

I also downloaded a sample of this book.

That's it from the homestead. This week is going to be filled to the brim, so I'm not sure how much I'll be blogging. Hope you have a great week.

Well, it's Monday again. I am giving the new Blogger a try because, eventually, it will be all I have. So, I better try it from time to time so I don't lose my mind when the Legacy version is gone (update: looks like it is gone).

Last week was a productive one. Fall cleaning on the first floor is done. The fall decorations are up. I finished that social media calendar for book promotion I had to work on, and I've been walking more. With the cooler temperatures, cooking and baking woo me into the kitchen. This weekend, I made banana bread, white bread, and some yummy macaroni and cheese. I'm hoping to make applesauce and apple crisp this coming week.

Though no one will accuse me of being an interior decorator, I enjoy the simple things I can do.

My physical mailbox remained empty last week, but I grabbed this seasonal offering through Kindle Unlimited.

That's it for me this week. What was your week like? Any great books arrive?

Mailbox Monday - Sep 14

After a busy weekend, I came to post at my blogs and discovered Blogger had changed to the new version. I'm like, stop it. Between the pandemic, wildfires across the Pacific Northwest, Tropical Storm Sally potentially turning into a hurricane headed right for Louisiana, and all the civil unrest across the nation, Blogger needs to be the one thing I can count on to stay the same. I reverted to the Legacy version.

Now, on to better things. Here are some photos from the weekend.

Travis likes that there is more room to get into the pantry now.

Not to be outdone by his brother, Dwight wants to investigate the pantry, too.

Just when I think I will give up on the garden, it grows things.

Growing wild on the outskirts of our yard.

As for books, nothing in the mailbox. Good thing, since I haven't felt much like reading. I did, however, pick up this one from my publisher's website. Colleen has several books that I want to check out.

Here is a short blurb:

Thirteen-year-old Tyler and his twelve-year old-sister, Cat, are in big trouble: at home, at school, and with the law. The verdict is in and they hate it: a year living in the mountains of eastern Oregon in a log house in the wilderness.

That's it from my neck of the woods. Hope you have a great week.

Mailbox Monday - June 8

Here we are again. The start of a new week. I am happy to see last week go. It passed in a blur, but with a lot of emotions. I shared why here if you're interested. Thankfully, the week ended on a good note with one accepted offer and, hopefully, one I will hear about tomorrow.

Now, on to more enjoyable things. I thought I would share some cute shots of the youngest furry members of our family.

Travis versus the grocery bag. You should have seen him try to walk with this thing around his neck.

Travis takes his job as grocery guard very seriously.

Travis also likes to sneak into the pantry and cabinets when we aren't looking.

Autumn, now more commonly referred to as Dwight,  is a frequent bed mate.

My mailbox had one book this week, but it's a good one.

What did you find in your mailbox this week? Anything I should add to my wish list?

Mailbox Monday - May 25

Happy Memorial Day! I am behind in getting things posted, but it was a hectic weekend.

My baby celebrated a birthday. Hard to believe he is 33.

I planted the garden.

I am learning a new diet because the Lil' Princess insists she wants to eat healthier.

Well, at least the furry residents of the house enjoyed some relaxation.

Being busy actually feels good. I'm out showing houses again--had an accepted offer from Saturday showings. I'm still ordering groceries online and having them delivered, but I go shopping for special occasions--like cupcakes for the birthday boy. I'm editing the first full length novel I ever completed. We are making plans to visit the Outer Banks like we do each summer.

Massachusetts is in Phase 2 of re-opening. Do you know what that means? I can get a haircut! I'm not sure when the last time is that I've been so excited about that.

My physical mailbox had a fun little surprise this week.

I also grabbed a couple of Kindle books.

That's it from my neck of the woods. Hope you have a great week.

2019 in Review

Another year has come to an end and a new one is just beginning. Is it a sign that I am getting older when the time passes so quickly?

I feel blessed that most of 2019 brought us good things and experiences. The speed bumps along the way make us stronger: the division in our church, the bullying of our daughter, and the challenge of caring for our elderly parents and hoping we make the right choices.

It is because of those obstacles, I often recite Philippians 4:13 to keep me focused: I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. It seems trite to say God never gives us more than we can handle, but it remains a truth that cannot be ignored. When I fear I can't go on, He lifts me up. As it says in Deuteronomy, It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not fail you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.

As I reflect on 2019, I hope it has encouraged me to be more grateful and more at peace, and may I learn to find joy in something every day.

Mailbox Monday - Dec 9

Only a few more weeks until Christmas and my trees aren't even decorated. The kittens might have something to do with that.

The lights are now up, but they bit a bulb off last night and wound up locked in the crate until we found it.

This is the first thing that happens when I enter my bathroom each morning.

I can honestly say we have never had cats like these.

In the mailbox this week an Amish fiction collection arrived.

I also borrowed these two from the library. Not that I have had time to crack them open.

That's it from me. The work and personal schedule will get hectic by Wednesday, so we will see how much reading I get done. Hope you have a great week.
