ABOUT THE BOOK
Tess has taken some ribbing from her fellow officer, Logan, for her quilting hobby. He finds it hard to align the brisk professional officer he patrols with during the day with the one who quilts in her off-time. Besides, he’s been trying to get to know her better and he’d like to be seeing her during those few nights a week she spends with her quilting guild. Then one afternoon Tess and Logan visit her aunt in the nursing home, and the woman acts agitated when Tess covers her with the story quilt. Aunt Susan is attempting to communicate a message to them about Tess’s uncle. There’s a story behind this quilt, they realize, one that may lead them to a serial killer. Will they have a chance to have a future together, or will the killer choose Tess for his next victim before they find him?

I used the sample on Amazon for this review, so I'm not certain I have the entire first chapter.
COVER: I'm not a fan of many quilt book covers, but this one is okay. I almost wish they would make the quilt part of the logo and then have a full cover image specific to the book.
FIRST CHAPTER: Tess visits her aunt who is in the hospital after a fall at home. Afterwards, Tess drives to the police station where she meets her new partner, Logan.
KEEP READING: Told from Tess' and Logan's points of view, this story quickly hooked me and kept me reading until the end of the sample. There is an immediate attraction between Tess and Logan, which you know will ramp up the suspense. One moment of confusion comes in between the sample and the book blurb. In the sample, the aunt's name is Kathy and she says she is Tess' only aunt. The above blurb says the aunt's name is Susan. Not a big deal, but I dislike inconsistencies. It won't keep me from wanting to read the book.
