Outer Banks Travels

Well, it's that time of year again. We landed in the Outer Banks on July 1.

First stop along the road was at Powell's Roadside Market. That's where we get our first batch of locally grown fruits and vegetables each year.

After unpacking, you know we had to visit the beach. The next day, some of our family joined us. It's been very hot and humid the past few days, but last night's rain has made things a bit more comfortable. 

We've visited some of our favorite places already:

• Jolly Roger Restaurant
• Miller's Waterfront Restaurant
• The Outer Banks Christmas Shop and General Store (new owners)
• The Hungry Pelican Deli & Ice Cream (new location)

And of course, we couldn't miss fireworks at the Waterfront Park in Manteo, where we got a chance to hear the 440 Army band play.
